Lula and Eva, who have a studio full of fairies, witches and gnomes have been working with these delightful creatures for at least twelve years, well before the current fashion for esotericism began.

Lula, an artist from the state of Pernambuco specializing in ceramics, together with his wife Eva, started to explore the possibilities of creating gnomes whilst they were living at another famous seaside resort – Calhetas, in Pernambuco.

After having tried out many different materials & tools for their work the couple use epoxy resin for their series of creatures although they still use a lot of improvisation,

They have learnt that dwarves represent the element Earth, symbolizing birth, growth and the flourishing of natural talents.

Gnomes represent the mineral world and bring good luck.

Fairies and elves, on the other hand, are closer in spirit to angels. They represent energy manifested in nature. Lula & Eva say that they produce more of these than anything else.

The couple’s son, Abel, 11 years old, started making gnomes when he was only six years old.

These elementals are to be found in many shops in Pipa, as well as in Natal in shops such as “Arte Final” and “Olho de Isis” and at the airport.
